WITH performances that captured the imagination and portrayed all the fun of the panto season, it’s probably no surprise that Wiltshire Creative’s Sleeping Beauty has received three nominations for the prestigious Pantomime Awards 2025.
Sleeping Beauty ran at Salisbury Playhouse from November 30, 2024, until January 12, 2025, and during that time the production welcomed more than 24,500 audience members. The Christmas Appeal also enabled more than 800 young people and families to attend the performance who would otherwise have been unable to attend.
Ryan McBryde directed the production.
He said: “I am absolutely thrilled that our production of Sleeping Beauty has been nominated for three categories: Best Costume Design, Best Set Design and Best Pantomime at the Great British Pantomime Awards.
“This recognition is a testament to the incredible creativity, talent, and dedication of the creative team, outstanding acting ensemble and entire team at Salisbury Playhouse, who really do pull out all the stops each Christmas!”
Theatre designer, Katie Lias, added: “I am delighted that we have been nominated across three categories! Every single member of the Sleeping Beauty team – both the incredible in-house staff and our amazing freelancers – put their absolute all into helping to create something so special and it’s a real testament to this collective passion and effort."
As Plested, Brown & Wilsher wrote Sleeping Beauty, these nominations build on Wiltshire Creative’s continuing success in pantomime with its production of Dick Whittington (also written by Plested, Brown & Wilsher) which received three nominations last year: Best Pantomime (500-900), Best Villain, and Best Contribution to Music.
Plested, Brown and Wilsher said: “We are absolutely jazzed Sleeping Beauty has been nominated for Best Pantomime this year. We'd like to thank the fantastic cast and outstanding creative and technical teams who brought our script to life in the most joyful, bonkers and hilarious way!”
