Inside Salisbury: Preparations for new Mayor underway
A civic procession is to take place in the city

The annual Mayor Making ceremony will take place this month with a civic procession through the city.
On Saturday, 10 May, the handover of the Mayoral Chain from the outgoing Mayor - Sven Hocking (pictured), to the incoming Mayor, who will become the 764th The Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Salisbury.
As part of the procession, Mayors from neighbouring towns, local dignitaries and invited guests will leave the Guildhall via Fish Row, Butcher Row, Minister Street and into St. Thomas’s Church at approximagely 11.55am with a fanfare played by the Shrewton Silver Band.
The official Mayor Making Service and Full Council meeting of Salisbury City Council will take place in St Thomas’s Church at 12pm, and all are welcome to attend.
During this meeting, there will be an official hand over of the Mayoral Chain by the outgoing Mayor to the new Mayor of the City of Salisbury.
The Civic Party will then make their way from St. Thomas’s Church via St Thomas Square and Blue Boar Row to the Guildhall, where there will be a photo opportunity on the steps.
