Inside Salisbury: Foodbank benefits from donation
Salisbury Reds helps give some festive cheer to people in crisis

A local foodbank has received a substantial donation this month which will help to ease hunger and poverty for some people this Christmas.
Salisbury Foodbank (Trussell community of food banks) provides three days of nutritionally-balanced emergency food and support to those who have been referred to them.
The donation from the Salisbury Reds bus service for £320 will help give some festive cheer to those in need.
Maria Stevenson from Salisbury Foodbank, said: “Christmas isn’t Christmas without wonderful surprises like this gift from Salisbury Reds. In November, we committed to create and deliver 200 Christmas hampers supporting 785 people experiencing hardship in our community.
“Last week we realised we will struggle to meet this demand with our food donations. This monetary gift will allow us to purchase the missing items, and keep to our timetable before destination CHRISTMAS.”

Salisbury Reds Operations Manager, David Newton, said: “Salisbury foodbank is a vital resource, providing vulnerable people with much-needed food and necessities when they are going through difficult times.
“Without it, many people would go hungry. In addition to the staples, we know people get a boost from having a treat every now and then - so we’re donating towards some special festive hampers. We hope those who use the foodbank enjoy them, and we wish them a very happy and peaceful Christmas.”
