Inside Salisbury: Can you give a dog a loving home?
The Dogs Trust in Salisbury needs loving new owners for these four dogs
By Annette J Beveridge
MANY people welcome dogs into their homes and they become a much-loved addition to the family unit, but some dogs are not as lucky and that’s why a local charity is calling for dog lovers to help these animals.
The Dogs Trust in Salisbury is asking people to care for some of the Staffordshire Bull Terriers - a popular breed across the UK. These are strong but affectionate dogs known for their love of the outdoors and for having high energy levels. These dogs need to go on plenty of walks and love to play with their toys so anyone interested in providing a loving home needs to provide opportunities for the dogs’ to burn off energy.
Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Salisbury, Claire Rowe, said: “Staffordshire Bull Terriers make great companions, and we’d love to see some of the Staffys we have here at the centre find their forever homes soon. They are a fantastic breed, full of love, loyalty and energy. Please do consider giving one of our amazing dogs a second chance.”
ACE
Ace, is a six-year-old attention-loving Staffordshire Bull Terrier looking for a forever home. Ace considers himself a lapdog. He has a passion for food and enjoys treat-based enrichment games to keep his brain active.
He needs an adult-only home with no other pets and has made much progress with wearing a muzzle while out on walks. Ace adores people but can take time to warm to new visitors so his new owner would need plenty of patience and understanding.
Simba
A lively, intelligent four-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier crossbreed is looking for his forever home. Simba loves having time out and being engaged in outdoor activities with human friends. Simba needs a quiet home, a secure garden and plenty of walks. Simba is currently on medication to help heal the skin on his ears but he still has a zest for play. His favourite game is chasing a tennis ball or playing with soft toys.
Simba has a boisterous nature, cherishes his quiet moments and looks for cuddles from people he knows and trusts.
Joey
Joey’s ideal home is with a sensible, patient owner who will build up trust with him in the early stages of adoption. He needs a calm, stable environment with gradual introduction to any new situation.
He is a sensitive young Staffordshire Bull Terrier crossbreed and has made significant progress despite having a tough start in life. He is currently working on his confidence and training so need a family prepared to develop these skills with him.
Joey can be anxious when meeting new people, and will often jump up at people when overstimulated. Joey will thrive with mental stimulation and needs moderate levels of exercise and socialisation with other dogs.
Buster
Buster is a nine-year-old friendly and affectionate Staffordshire Bull Terrier crossbreed. He needs a family with no one younger than sixteen years-of-age who can understand his needs.
Buster can find new environments overwhelming at times so when outside in public he must be kept on a lead. He needs a family who will be there for much of the day with him as struggles with being left alone.
Buster loves his food, understands basic commands such as ‘sit’ and is fully housetrained.
