ROCK music fans will be saddened to learn about the death of the former Iron Maiden frontman at his home in Salisbury.
Paul Di’Anno - real name Paul Andrews, passed away at his home in Salisbury yesterday (Monday, October 21) at the age of 66.
Famed for his vocals on Iron Maiden classics which included the Phantom of the Opera, Di’Anno had been wheelchair bound since 2021.
Having joined the band in 1978, he left in 1981 when rumours circulated of a dispute with manager Rob Smallwood and bassist Steve Harris although this was not the end of his music career. He performed solo and with bands such as Nomad, Praying Mantis and Battlezone and last appeared on stage in May 2022 in Croatia.
His record label, Conquest Music’s statement mentioned the severe health issues that troubled Di’Anno in recent years, restricting him to a wheelchair when performing.
